I am someone who over many years has learned and developed skills related to web design. I have developed these skills due to my never give up attitude and the desire to learn and pursue new challenges. This includes web design, graphic design and photography. These things stimulate my mind and creativity that I gravitate towards and the perseverance to never give up when a challenge comes my way.
I was a residential and commercial plumber for 11 years, I desired something more exciting in my career and decided to do a 360 degree change and opened a clothing store….a woman’s clothing store. I had this store for 11 wonderful years that allowed me the opportunity to learn new skills and meet some amazing people that helped me grow as a person and for that I am grateful. It wasn’t the average clothing store either, it was very edgy, so much so that people took notice, I was featured in two major newspapers as well as on television, it was scary but also exciting, the dream per se of any entrepreneur. With this new venture I was also able to meet some amazing mentors to work with and learn from. With this new venture I also created my own photo studio and learned photography on a professional level and the computer skills that are required to produce something amazing. This transformation also grew into learning web design which resulted in three e-commerce websites that I built that complimented my store, seeing the results was exciting. It was a lot of hard work and countless hours learning and fine tuning my skills. Unfortunately I was thrown a life curve and a change in the economy and the business landscape on Whyte Avenue changed everything almost overnight and I had to close it all down. Albeit, the circumstances have not doused my passions in doing what I enjoy and find happiness in. One of which is helping others realize the dream and working together towards achieving it, therefore I created Designed Edge.
